How much ice do I actually need for an event?

It depends on guest count, event length, bar style, and setting. The calculator covers ice for drinks (rocks and shaking) plus ice for chilling bottles and cans in tubs or coolers, with a melt buffer built in.

Does weather affect how much ice I should buy?

Yes. The calculator adjusts for indoor/air-conditioned settings versus outdoor mild weather versus outdoor hot weather, since heat and direct sun melt ice faster.

Does bar style change the ice estimate?

Yes. A full open bar, beer and wine only, or a craft cocktail bar with lots of shaking and rocks drinks each use ice differently.

Is the ice estimate exact?

No, it's a planning estimate. Hot weather, direct sun, and long cocktail hours can push actual usage higher, so when in doubt, round up since ice is cheap and running out isn't an option.

Does the calculator include ice for chilling drinks, not just serving them?

Yes. It covers ice for drinks in the glass plus ice for chilling bottles and cans in tubs or coolers.

What if I'd rather not handle the ice myself?

Quality Barware's bartending packages can handle the whole bar, ice included.
